Allan Richardson has been performing on the folk scene since his first floor spot at Wood Green Folk Club in 1963, and he has rarely looked back. Over the years he has played countless floor spots, concerts and folk clubs across the country.

After retiring from full-time work, Allan devoted even more time to music, performing regularly throughout the folk circuit and appearing on the much-missed Kent Folk programme on BBC Radio Kent.

A true acoustic troubadour, Allan has built an extensive repertoire of original songs. Drawing on many years of writing for satirical revues with the Act One drama group, his songs combine wit, warmth and keen observation. Popular favourites include Moving On, The Dark Girl Dressed in Blue and the much-loved Air Shanty. Alongside his own compositions, Allan also performs the occasional traditional song—often joking that his favourite songwriter is "Trad."

Allan has released several CDs of his original music, the most recent being Thanks for All the Honey, whose title track is a charming tribute to insect life.
